Deborah Rodgers grew up in the Deep South at a time when black folk couldn’t share a sidewalk with white folk and that as a female, she was allowed to speak only when spoken to and only then if she had something nice to say. Nevertheless, she overcame those obstacles and became an award-winning journalist. Now, retired and married to a man who is fully committed to the equality of women, she spends her time in service to her beloved faith, reveling in grandbaby hugs and trying to show her dogs whose boss.
