Dergham Aqiqi, M.Sc. (Building Services Engineering, Brunel University London), P.Eng., is a certified Canadian professional engineer, with over 25 years experience in the planning and management of infrastructure projects in Canada, Iraq, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Italy. Born in Baghdad, Iraq, he now lives in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Widely traveled, Mr. Aqiqi has visited 92 countries in all continents except Antarctica. Fluent in English, Arabic, and Persian, he has also served as a translator (English-Arabic-English) of technical, legal and literary documents, and has a working knowledge of French and a basic knowledge of German, Kurdish, Italian, and Turkish. With over 30 years experience in working with NGOs (volunteering in administrative, financial, and management capacities), Mr. Aqiqi has organized and chaired various conferences (technical and social fields) in Canada, Iraq, and Yemen for public and private sectors. In pursuit of his passionate interest in Qur’anic studies, Mr. Aqiqi has taken a number of non-degree courses in Islamic Studies at McGill University, Montreal, Canada, having previously completed twelve years of schooling in rigorous courses on the Qur’an up to the university level.
