Duane L. Herrmann, a father with four children and seven grandchildren, has studied and practiced Bahá’í teachings since 1969. He has participated in Bahá’í events and activities around the U.S., in Canada, Germany and the Bahá’í World Center. With degrees in Education and History, he has taught from Kindergarten to college. He is an internationally published, award-winning poet and historian, with work translated into several languages, in print and online; including a science fiction novel, various works of history and several volumes of poetry. His poetry has received the Robert Hayden Poetry Fellowship, inclusion in American Poets of the 1990s, Map of Kansas Literature, Kansas Poets Trail and other awards. His history, By Thy Strengthening Grace, received the Ferguson Kansas History Book Award. This has been achieved despite a traumatic childhood embellished by dyslexia, ADHD, cyclothymia, and now, PTSD.
