H. Okamoto

Nick Okamoto was born and raised in Hawaii. After earning a bachelor's degree in math and physics at the University of Hawaii at Hilo, a Math for America fellowship brought him to New York City for a 5 year commitment teaching secondary school mathematics. From there he went on to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia, ultimately earning a PhD in mathematics. After a dozen years on the US mainland, he eventually found his way back to the islands, and is now a member of the mathematics faculty at the University of Hawaii Maui College.
