I created this flower photo, and give it openly, with love, to all of the men out there, the male inhabitants of planet Earth.

It is symbolic, dedicated to the concept of change, for your consideration. It’s from me to you, genuinely so, which is pretty amazing in itself, since I openly admit to favoring the female of the species.

flowerYes, it’s true, the softer side I admire, at times more rational, certainly in my case, more sensible. The sensitivity, I could bathe in … soak up the essence.

The truth of the matter, fellas, this flower I’ve sent you, I want you to remember it. Try to remember where your small existence came into being. Would we even exist without women? Our male species would wither and die on the vine of humanity, left to despair..

We can recount together a million sad abuses of male-provoked horror, if we chose to sadly remember and research. Since humankind’s earliest beginning, women were wounded and worse by the meanness of spirit, the breakdown of mind, body, and soul. Who can argue it not so?

To the utter limits, women have been pushed, stepped on, held back, hidden, mistreated, used and abused. Hasn’t the time come for that to stop, gentlemen? Can you feel the shift in energies, in the quest for what is just, what is right, and what is true, to release our unbalanced hold, and lovingly set our women free? They deserve the freedom to feel a certain way, to feel as if we men in this society actually care about them, respect them, and are willing to treat them with dignity and love, to protect their rights as human beings at all costs.

Now they march, they cry out, and have begun to find their voices, to point out openly and publicly the names of their oppressors, to reveal the harassments of many, dating back decades.

My good men, the flower is yours, to think on, to ponder, to meditate about the condition, the state of women. Consider our mothers, sisters, daughters, and wives, how they are treated and how that treatment reflects directly upon the brow of our own conscience, our compassion, and God-fearing devoutness, to justice and equality.

Often, I like to look upon the Baha’i teachings for hope in the future, hope for the well-being of humanity, if we so choose to listen, and heed the wisdom it reflects:

The world of humanity is possessed of two wings: the male and the female. So long as these two wings are not equivalent in strength, the bird will not fly. Until womankind reaches the same degree as man, until she enjoys the same arena of activity, extraordinary attainment for humanity will not be realized; humanity cannot wing its way to heights of real attainment. When the two wings … become equivalent in strength, enjoying the same prerogatives, the flight of man will be exceedingly lofty and extraordinary. – Abdu’l-Baha, The Promulgation of Universal Peace, p. 375.

I hope beyond all words, compassionate men, that you might make a difference in this dynamic—a difference in your mind and heart, that you would consider the greater good, in all your actions, in your treatment, with the women in your lives, whether professional, or personal, to see them as equals.

Rise, gentlemen, rise. Let us soar to the highest degree, let us become true heroes in the eyes of our daughters, true friends in the hearts of our sisters, devoted sons to our mothers, honest men to our wives, and a beam of light to all others that we come across.

Let us be a part of the turning tide, the balancing of a destined take-off, the flight together of woman and man, the heights to attain, the reward, as yet unfathomed, unimagined, but within our grasp. May God be with us all .. and we pray He may open the door to the hearts of all men.
