The first day of spring is a special day for Baha’is. Not only does it mark the vernal equinox, it also signals the conclusion of the 19-day Baha’i Fast and the beginning of the new Baha’i calendar year. We call this day “Naw-Ruz,” which literally translates to “new day.”

To celebrate this special time, the BahaiTeachings.org family invites you to tune in on Friday, March 20 to “This is the Day – A Musical Celebration of Naw-Ruz” — free live-streamed musical performance by accomplished singer and songwriter Luke Slott.

This virtual event has been specially commissioned by the Bahá’ís of Palo Alto, California. Due to the coronavirus crisis, in-person Naw-Ruz festivities are canceled, so we’re grateful for their generous invitation to the BahaiTeachings.org community to come together and celebrate online with Luke.

In this time of global suffering and uncertainty, we’re reminded what Baha’u’llah, the Prophet-Founder of the Baha’i Faith wrote about the power of music to uplift our spirits: “We, verily, have made music as a ladder for your souls, a means whereby they may be lifted up unto the realm on high.” (Kitab-i-Aqdas). To that end, Luke’s program is sure to refresh our hearts and brighten our spirits.

Luke’s concert will be live-streamed on BahaiTeachings.org’s Facebook and Instagram Friday, March 20 from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. PST. You’ll be able to connect as early as 6:45 p.m. — and please invite your friends by sharing one of the links below!
