Formerly Jewish, Marty became a Baha'i in 1967 in Lawrence, Kansas where he graduated from K.U. with a B.A. in psychology, a B.S. in business administration, and a minor in sociology. He lives in Tucson, Arizona, and has twice moved back and forth between Tucson and Chicago. While in Chicago he worked at the Chicago Tribune, and was a guide at the Baha'i House of Worship.
